Winter sets

I have finished two winter sets for our youngest daughter. The first set I call " Country Charm" because where else can you see denim and sunflowers together LOL! I bought this fabric from Catherine's Place. The corduroy is so soft and sews up beautifully. I used Newlook 6016 for the pinafore. It can be worn with a little long sleeve tee underneath and tights or worn as a long top over the jeans which were made using Simplicity 2907 as a base pattern. I am in the process of making a matching beanie and chocolate brown skivvy/long sleeve tee.

This is my first attempt at shirring and I still have a lot to learn. I was hoping that the ankle would be tighter and have more stretch but I think that the denim is a bit too heavy for the look that I would like to achieve. I will keep trying to get shirring right...as long as it takes right? Just pop a long sleeve tee underneath and it will be perfect for our winter here. Of course there is a beanie to match for the really cool days...or just because. :)
